Step 1
First thing first, safely raise the vehicle and support it on the frame so the suspension can hang.
Step 2
Loosen the lug nut of the wheel. Use a breaker bar with a required size socket. Remove the lug nuts using a socket. Then remove the wheel and tire.
Step 3
After that, comes the outer tie rod end. Remove the castle nut off of the outer tie rod end using a 13/16 wrench for this.
Step 4
In order to separate the outer tie rod end from the knuckle use a hammer and strike the front. Gradually it will pop out.
Step 5
To adjust or replace the tie rod sleeves, start unthreading the outer tie rod end. At this point, count the number of threads that come out on. It will be needed at the time of reinstalling the outer tie rod end.
Step 6
Now use a 24-mile meter to unthread the sleeve off of the inner tie rod end. Leave the jam nut of the inner tie rod end. After removing the old sleeve, check whether it can be reused or not. If the sleeve needs to replace then set a new one.
Step 7
Carefully thread the sleeve. Each side of a sleeve is a different diameter. The larger size is the inner tie rod end port and the smaller is for the outer tie rod end port. So, start threading the larger port. Finally, tighten up the jam nut by hand. Thread on the outer tie rod end as counted while unthreading it. Just like before tighten up the jam nuts by hand.
Step 8
Place the outer tie rod end into the knuckle. Install the castle nut. To tighten this up, line up the castle nut the hole. A cotter pin needs to feed in the castle nut. Then bend it using a pair of pliers.
Step 9
Again recheck the jam nuts. Tighten them up if needed.
